Abstract

An appendicular mucocele is defined as an obstruction of the appendix caused by intraluminal mucus. It is a rare condition whose etiology is not fully understood. Given its minimal symptoms and the nonspecific nature of laboratory findings, the diagnosis is usually incidental. Treatment always involves appendectomy, and right hemicolectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy may be necessary. We present four clinical cases of appendiceal mucinous neoplasms with different clinical presentations and outcomes.
